I want to thank those who have commented and contributed to this site. I have been very lax in blogging, but I am back for good and desire your help in the posts. Weekly, I will make an official post of your comments, insights, and impressions as you continue your journey of reading the Book of Mormon this summer. I have been deeply touched by your testimonies at church and wish to keep a record of those things so we can reflect upon them and remember the powerful witnesses of the spirit we have been given as a ward.
Feel free to make a comment, even if your thoughts do not relate to any of the blog entries. Share your testimony with us and your personal insights as you read the Book of Mormon.
To begin, here are two beautiful thoughts by members of our ward as they began their reading:
Enrique Maradiaga
2 Nephi 9:3-4. Makes me feel that I need to be extra vigilant, for as a member of the people of of the covenant, I have the potential to crucify my own God, and not be ready to recognize His miracles. I need to keep alive the feelings I had as a recent convert, and trade sophistication for child like humbleness.

I just finished reading 1 Nephi 11 (I know I'm way behind!!). In verse 16 the angel that is showing Nephi the vision says "Knowest thou the condescension of God?" I wasn't entirely sure what condescension meant in this context, so I looked it up and realized that it is referring to the "lower state" that God subjected himself to by sending Jesus Christ to earth to live among men (and be "mortal"- in a way). This is a much lower state than the celestial home he came from. In a way it was like a demotion (but with a very important job to do).
Then I realized that we all go through this condescension in a way. We leave our Heavenly parents to come to earth where we're cut off from their presence. We suffer trials, afflictions, challenges, and hardships. But in the end we're given the opportunity to ascend back up to heaven to be with them again. Just like the scriptures say, God's work is "one eternal round." Just a little insight I've had this morning (which I need as laundry is piling up, toys are being scattered everywhere and I haven't even showered yet). :) That's probably more than you wanted to know, so I'll go now. :)
Thank-you Enrique and Amanda. Your insights have touched me and I know will touch others.
