- The brothers risked their lives.
- Laban's life was taken.
- Other reasons?
- Do we know this?
- Do our children know that we know this?
- Do they believe it?

I know I"m a few days behind, but I'm starting the Book of Mormon Challenge today- yay!! Thanks for the great blog!
ReplyDeleteI just finished reading 1 Nephi 11 (I know I'm way behind!!). In verse 16 the angel that is showing Nephi the vision says "Knowest thou the condescension of God?" I wasn't entirely sure what condescension meant in this context, so I looked it up and realized that it is referring to the "lower state" that God subjected himself to by sending Jesus Christ to earth to live among men (and be "mortal"- in a way). This is a much lower state than the celestial home he came from. In a way it was like a demotion (but with a very important job to do).
ReplyDeleteThen I realized that we all go through this condescension in a way. We leave our Heavenly parents to come to earth where we're cut off from their presence. We suffer trials, afflictions, challenges, and hardships. But in the end we're given the opportunity to ascend back up to heaven to be with them again. Just like the scriptures say, God's work is "one eternal round." Just a little insight I've had this morning (which I need as laundry is piling up, toys are being scattered everywhwere and I haven't even showered yet). :) That's probably more than you wanted to know, so I'll go now. :)
Thanks for doing this! It is a great way to keep up! I'll post more thoughts with later entries.
